September 12, 2021

Dear Fifth Grade Parents,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 year of St. Eulalia’s Religious Education program. I am excited to be your child’s teacher this year, and I am looking forward to sharing our faith with them. We would like to take a moment to introduce ourselves.

Nick Rocco -- This is my third year as the fifth grade CCD teacher, in addition to being a catechist I am also a lector and eucharistic minister. I am entering my fourth year of formation in the Diocese of Scranton to become a permanent Deacon. In addition to my formation studies I am also enrolled in a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies program at the Pontifical College of Josephinum. I am married and have four beautiful daughters who are also enrolled in CCD from grades 5 - 8.

Ann Marie Cole -- This is my first year assisting with CCD classes, and I’m looking forward to working with Nick as well as teaching and learning with your children. I am married and have 2 sons who are enrolled in the third and fourth grade CCD programs.
In-person classes will run from 9-10am on Sundays. If the NP school district is closed on Monday for a holiday weekend, we will not have religious ed classes the Sunday before. Please see the calendar that was sent with your registration letter or the online version on the parish website.

Any class announcements will be sent via email and Remind (see below for instructions on joining the Fifth Grade Remind class) and will be posted on this fifth grade web page.

Aside from the book materials we would also like to focus on the bible. In particular we would like to teach your child the parts of the bible and how to use it. If you have a Catholic bible that would be very helpful, but if you don’t that is ok too. There are plenty of online resources that we can use. Throughout the year we will be sending out activities so that your whole family can participate in the fun and learning.

You are your child’s first teacher of the faith, but we thank you for sending them to our program.

Please never hesitate to reach out to either of us with questions or concerns.

Below is a brief outline of what children enrolled in St. Eulalia's Religious Education Program learn during Fifth Grade

Students use the bible to learn scripture its interpretation of chapters and verses; explaining the seven sacraments' meaning and symbols and celebrating God's life and love through each one. Sacraments of Initiation, Healing, and Service are introduced to the students.

Sign Up for Religious Education -- You can complete the online registration form or download the PDF registration form.
