2020 Program Overview

After reading through these points if you still have questions please reach out (my contact information is below). Peace, Alysia Clancy (emailed and posted 10/1/2020)

  • We are beginning the year for grades 1-8 this Sunday, 10/4 using an all-virtual model. Please do not drop off your student(s) at the church on Sunday or Father will put them to work setting up for the outdoor mass. :)
  • To begin the year, families will receive weekly emails from catechists by 9am on Sundays with that week’s lesson. These lessons will incorporate units in their textbooks as well as activities and documents the teachers will email to you. There is no live/Zoom teaching, although we may incorporate it depending on the teachers' preferences. This first week's lesson will probably be an introduction and "getting to know you" activity
  • The lesson emailed to you will also be posted on that grade's web page on our parish website (as we know sometimes emails disappear) so you can be sure to know one place to find all the lessons. You can access the grade pages as a dropdown menu when you hover over "Religious Education" on the main navigation of the parish website or from the the list above
  • We encourage families to take the traditional Religious Ed time (9am on Sundays) to work on these lessons and then attend the 10:05 Sunday mass or watch it on the livestream. However, there is no requirement to complete the work at that time — you can complete the weekly lessons when it is convenient for your family.
  • There will be periodic online quizzes to ensure the material is making sense, and we hope to incorporate some interaction with the families and Fr. Tudgay on our Religious Ed Facebook page. facebook.com/StEulaliaReligiousEd
  • As we learn more about COVID-19 and its prevalence in our community we may begin to slowly introduce options for small group gatherings — always being mindful to follow current CDC and PA Dept. of Health guidelines like wearing masks and keeping social distance. However please know, no one will be required to attend in-person meetings while the pandemic continues.
  • Be sure to sign up for your class Remind group. Instructions can be found on each grade web page (links above).
  • If you still need to pick up your textbook please contact me and we can work out a time to meet.
  • You can now pay for your Religious Ed fees using your credit or debit card via PayPal (link is below this post), you can mail your check to the parish office, or drop it in the offertory box as you leave mass. The fee is $35 per students (with a maximum of $105 per family). Thank you to all who have already submitted their payment.
  • For the sacramental grades (2nd and 8th) we plan to have a meeting with you, your children, your catechists (teachers), and Father Tudgay later this month. As soon as the dates are confirmed I will send an email to those families with the details.
  • Current mass times at the church are Saturday at 4pm and Sunday at 8am, 10:05am (outdoor, weather permitting and livestreamed on Facebook) and 12noon. We encourage families who are comfortable with our protocols to attend mass and for those who are not yet ready to be in groups to join us on the livestream.

Our mantra thru this all is "slow and steady with patience and grace." This is going to be a wonderful opportunity for us to strengthen our faith and you have our full support. We understand you and your children are managing virtual/hybrid schooling all week and may be struggling at times (I know we are in my house) so please, also have patience with yourself.

If after sending this email I realize I've forgotten something I will add it to the top of this page -- please check this page for the most up-to-date information.

As always, if you have any questions at all please don't ever hesitate to reach out to me via email (religioused@saint-eulalia.com) or phone/text (570-574-9535) -- my job is to serve you and your children.

Have a beautiful day,
:) alysia

PS -- The bottom line .... for this Sunday you should have the textbook (hard copy or digital) for each student, join the class Remind group, be on the lookout for an email from your catechist, and have a positive attitude. That's it!
